I was wondering what I should use to make a soap that is good for acne prone skin?

You can try neem or eucalyptus or make a pure castile bar that's unscented.

What percentages would you use them at? Or would you make it similar to a facial bar?

If the soap is used on the whole body as well as the face, I would use the same % as if you were making a facial bar for sensitive skin.

My son likes a Castile made with Tea Tree EO for his acne.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I make a soap with olive, avocado, babassu & pko using 18% neem oil, patchouli EO & lavender EO. I don't use shea or cocoa butter as makes my DS's acne worse.

I found this recipe....what do you guys think?

Olive oil 30.30%
Coconut oil 30.30%
castor oil 6.06%
neem oil 18.18%
Palm oil 9.09%
Avacado oil 6.06%

It also says to use tea tree oil, but I think this is added at trace.

I totally agree w/ the use of Tea Tree Oil! It's so great for the skin. I have several clients who buy my Tea Tree Peppermint soap strictly for use on acne, and they say it works like a charm.

Yes the recipe also said to use peppermint EO but I was kind of reluctant to use it, but maybe it wont be super strong if you go half and half with it and the tea tree EO.

I'm going to be honest, with that much neem oil, I would have a hard time putting that soap near my face. Neem oil is stinky.
I'd drop it down to about 5% or even less.

Have you ever used a soap for acne prone skin? I have tried a couple of store bought ones and they both smelled bad, lol. I think if your acne is bad enough you wont care what it smells like as long as it helps.

Alot of products for acne in general smell bad. Ugh I remember using that stinky noxema stuff my parents got for me when I was a teenager. I have use a few different things here and there and I don't remember any of them smelling good, lol.

What about using grape seed oil?

I use a very simple recipe for my facial bars. It has olive, coconut, castor, avocado, shea, rose clay, and sea clay. I use litsea essential oil in it and then I have a matching moisturizer that has a tiny bit of litsea and lavender. It works wonders! Especially for my brother's skin. His face is always so greasy and horrible broken out. Since he started using it his face has cleared up a lot!
