Teach Soap

The weirdest thing happened to me. I took my soap out of the fridge and left it on the counter overnight. I went to check it this morning and noticed all these water beads on top of it. The night before I had sprayed it with alcohol once again and wondered if it had not evaporated. So I decided to unmold it just to check to see if there was something else going on inside. Aside from the fact that it was pretty soft and I ruined my corners I did not see anything wrong. I knew it would have a bit of zap since I had just come out of the fridge so I decided to carefully cut, wait and see.

I came back to it about and hour later and noticed some sweat drops on the surface of one of the bars. Not sure it you can see it...but it's on the bottom over the white portion.



so...I am wondering now if I should just give it a couple of more days or just rebatch it

Did you use glycerin to mix your colorant?

could be just condensation, surely?

I think it's the temp change from the fridge to room temp. If the soap didn't gel, give it a couple of days, then check for zap. It's possible that it's glycerin seeping out and not water.

I did use glycerin to mix my colors

I would have let that rest until I just noticed a new soap batch that I just made which I did not place in the fridge or insulate to gel. The top had some beads of sweat, I noticed it this morning and some of it have absorbed already. I made it last night. I have not cut it and it's not soft.

I did try a new recipe

OO 15%
Sunflower 25%
Almond 15%
Coconut 20%
Palm 10%
Mango 10%
Castor 5%

8% SF and 26% lye soloution strenght.
I did not have any trouble during soaping, the fragrance behaved well - NG Apple Lavendar

While the temperature has started to become a little milder, not so cold (I live in California, the Bay Area), it really is not hot or humid

Interesting recipe. Was the sunflower oil the high-oleic type? That's quite close to olive oil. I like it.

I had that happen not too long ago. I let it sit on the counter for a couple of days and they sweat beads disappeared. It's probably just condensation. Beautiful colors. I wish I could get a nice blue like that....

Zap makes your tongue tingle/burn. No zap and it will taste like soap. I run my finger under water, rub it on the soap and then hold it to my tongue rather than lick the soap itself.

You MUST test your soaps. Every single one of them. But never test them before they're a week old! (Some say on the 4th day).

So what do you do with the soap if it does "zap"?
