There's current legislation that's on the table to try and change the law so that you can list a PO Box, it hasn't passed yet, but that may be a good option for you in the future.

Jhop4, you can get yourself a google phone number and have it forward to your cell phone. It doesn't solve the address problem but it helps with the phone issue.

I guess I still have a lot to learn! I just read the FDA guidelines on labeling. I didn't think that soap was a cosmetic unless specified as an exfollient, moisturizer, etc. Thanks everyone for the input!

Jhop4, please correct me if I'm wrong, but in the "show off" thread you tried to post a picture of your first CP soap. Are you just starting out with soapmaking?

I thought I read somewhere that if you put your email address on the label you didn't have to use your physical address. Is that incorrect information?

Hopefully, the law will be changed so that a PO Box address is allowed. I don't like using my home address either, but my home has 3 dogs on the premises, and one of them is a very protective Doberman.

I really hope that it does pass. It used to be that anyone could get a PO Box and they didn't have to give much info to get it. But since homeland security you have to give the post office your physical address, so it's on record that those two addresses are connected. So although the "must list physical address" law used to make some sense, now it just seems unnecessary and unsafe.

But having the address isn't just for customers. It's also so the FDA can contact you if needed or if they choose to visit if you're making any cosmetics.
