Ran out of my first batch of lotion that Soapbuddy kindly helped me with awhile ago! Remade it and decided to tweak it a bit (I had way too much rosemary in it the first time)

I made a super tiny batch, it's in a small pyrex dish. Literally 1 tbsp of shea, 1 tsp of almond butter and smaller amounts of Calendula extract, hemp seed oil and a very tiny amount of rosemary.

I tried it on my face last night and liked it. I forgot to put some on my hands for overnight though. It was still a bit hard in the container, so this morning I decided to add a little walnut oil that I just got in.

Then I decided I didn't really like the smell. I hadn't scented it at all, and had stirred it with a toothpick (same thing I did last time). I don't know if the smell was due to the toothpick (slight wet wood smell) or if it was just all the unscented oils. What would you stir something like this with? The first time I made it, I found the rosemary settled on the bottom unless I stirred it until it firmed up. I ended up adding a couple of drops of tea tree oil to it.

Next question - now that I added some walnut oil, it feels more greasy than without. Not sure if it's the oil itself or if I just hit a threshold of liquid oils. So could I add a bit of cornstarch to it to dry it out a bit without hurting the oil properties?

If all goes well I'd like to use it on more than just my face and I am trying to get more of a creamy substance rather than something I need to scrape out with my thumbnail.

Thanks!

Hazelnut oil is really lovely, but it is a tad on the "greasy feeling" side, but it has astringent properties.

For mixing small batches of oils/butters, I'd use something like this http://www.brambleberry.com/Spatula-Whi ... P3233.aspx

Oh! Thanks so much! I used to sell a product many years ago and I may still have the little spatulas that were used to mix up the face mask. Funny how you forget these things until you see a picture!

I used it after my shower, so nice! No drag. So far, I like it much better so far than the whipped butter I made.

I'll probably still have to look into a lotion for the summer as I suspect this will melt in my warm house too.
