Where in Central PA are you?? I live in the Pittsburgh area. I have found several people who were willing to share their knowledge but weren't offering to get together or anything. They were very helpful though. I do have to share one of the neatest experiences I have had through soapmaking. It's a long story but the end result was being able to meet with an amish soapmaker and share with her. Her husband has cancer and she's supplementing their income with her soap sales. The interesting part is all she has is books to do her research. No computer. Imagine no eye candy!!! We have been corresponding and I share different soaps with her pass or fail (of course the fails are pics only). She loves seeing different techniques. It's nice to be able to share with her.
I would be interested in doing a soaping day. PM me and we'll talk. We can both wait for Hestey to finish her workshop .
I'm fairly new as to soapmaking as well but it sounds fun. Always up for fun!!!!!

There's a really great soap making group on Facebook called Soaper's Retreat. https://www.facebook.com/groups/soapersretreat/ It's a very active group with nearly a thousand members.

Another thought is to try checking with a local soap supplier or restaurant oils supplier. They might be able to pass your info on to their customers who make soap. I know I've ended up having some great conversations with other soap makers while sniffing fragrance oils at my local supplier!
