Teach Soap

Hello, I'm new at all this and very much looking forward to getting started! I just bought my caustic soda yesterday and want to make castile soap. I've seen lots of recipes about how to make cold process castile soap, but was wondering if I can make this into hot process? Us the only difference that I heat it in a pot after it reaches trace? I want to do this because I heard you have to leave cold process soap to cure for up to six weeks whereas you can use hot process immediately. I don't want to do something dangerous, so can someone please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong? Thank you.

Any soap, especially castile needs time to cure. You can hot process it, but it's really best to wait til the soap cures. I wouldn't hot process it on the stove, since you are new to soapmaking. It can scorch. Put your soap in the oven instead or cook it in a crock pot.

BTW. I find pure castile slimey and it won't have many bubbles.

Thanks for replying! I thought hot process didn't require curing, I got that piece of info from many videos on YouTube. And they also said castile is fluffy...thanks for correcting me

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I'll second that comment about Castille. I bought some HP Castille from a local soaper and was very disappointed. I gave most of it away making sure to tell people it wasn't our product.
