Teach Soap

Hello everyone. I am wanting to make a couple of loaves of salt bars but not sure which colorants to use. When I made a batch oh so long ago, the color it turned out was not the color that I put in! Which colorants does anyone suggest that will come out true to what I use? Thank you!

I use the same colorants for my salt bars that I do for my regular soaps. As long as your colorants are ph stable, they should be fine in a salt bar.

You can use oxides or ultramarines. I find the salt make the color lighter.

Thank you both! What about the ones on the BB site that say high ph, would these be ok as well? That's what happened with my salt loaf, it came out grey and I had used light blue.

If your soap came out gray instead of blue, you most likely didn't use enough color. Some micas do morph in soap to gray too. Soap is a high pH. I don't know off the top of my head which colors BB has that are high pH.

Thank you Genny and Soapbuddy, luckily I asked before I had grey batches or another color that I wouldn't have been happy with!
