Tonight, I decided to experiment using coconut water. Everything went well until I started to mix my batch with active charcoal. Before I added the batter to charcoal, I had ylang ylang and lemon EO added at trace. All of sudden my batter riced. I don't know what caused this, and was hoping someone could help with it.

When this stuff happens could you still put it in a mold and wait and see 24 hours later?

It could be the ylang. If you were still able to mix it all, it might be fine. If not, you might end up with lye pockets.

does ylang ylang accelerate trace? I did try to stick blend the batter, but it wasn't moving much. I just went ahead and pour into my mold. I might have added too much of ylang EO. I've used it before and never had an issue. I'm bummed.

How big of a batch was this and where did the EO come from?

I haven't made a batch that small, but 5 drops doesn't sound like a lot to me. Did you convert the recipe into grams for better accuracy?
