Teach Soap

I'm relatively new ( 6 mos) to soaping and have seen many bars that are decorated with glitter. People seem to like it but I was wondering what type of glitter? Also is it hard to wash off? Does it stick to the skin? Is it irritating even with cosmetic grade? I am just confused as to why there would be glitter on the top of soap, yet it does make it pretty.

For some people it sells, but I prefer no glitter. I don't want anything going down my drain.

I've had no problems with sticking to skin or drain. I used it from time to time and does give the soap a different look, especially the holiday soaps. I get mine from BB and so far I've had no irritations and have not heard anything from family and friends that they don't like it.

I rarely use glitter, although it is a nice touch sometimes. I dusted the tops of my Fresh Snow soaps with some shredded iridescent glitter from BB to get a sparkly snowflake effect. I've used glitter in M&P soaps, too, every once in a while and never had any problems with it sticking to the skin, etc. I have been told that it's best to warn people not to use glittery soap near their eyes as a precaution. Also, make sure you use cosmetic-grade glitter that is approved for bath and body products. Bramble Berry has a bunch of body-safe glitters.

I sometimes use a little cosmetic glitter on my rebatched soap to help pretty them up. Just a sprinkle on top, not too much though, I don't want them looking like trumped up harlots.

I use glitter every now and then, especially in soaps for little girls! But I am in love with sparkles, so I can't really resist!
