I have a lady who is interested in maybe selling my soaps in her country store. For those of you who already sell is it best to stick with one recipie or do you switch it up? I have 3 that I have settled on ( 1 coconut free, 1 palm free, and 1 that uses both coconut and palm ) I like all 3 of them and it is hard to decide between them. I usually use either the palm free or coconut free if I am swirling since they seem to take longer to thicken.

I have one main recipe, because customers expect consistency. But I do have a couple other recipes that I use for my "specialty" soaps or "one of a kind" soaps. Like salt bar soaps, beer soaps, castile soaps, etc.

I use different recipes for different soaps. I have an all--olive oil recipe, a mostly olive and coconut (because it traces slowly and let's me do pretty swirls), another with rice bran oil, because I like the lather, and so on.

I use 2 basic recipes with almost the exact same qualities... One uses lard and the other uses palm. I also do special bars with higher % of shea or cocoa butter and shaving soap.

Why don't you ask the store owner? I have one recipe that I use for standard soap, then other recipes for specialty soaps.

Most of mine are the same recipe with specialty bars being different. People definately want consistency.

I did an experiment before deciding on the final recipe though. After lots of feedback from testers I selected the top 3 recipes & with samples of those (& also samples from 2 other soapers within a couple of hours drive) I asked for ranking, 1-5. Really interesting, pretty consistent too, with the majority preferring one recipe. (Is it terribly conceited if I add that the other 2 soapers bars always placed 4th & 5th? :D :D Hope not!)

Hope this helps

Is there anything I should take with me when I talk to this lady other than obviously samples and a price list?

I would suggest taking along either sample soaps or the oils you use to scent your soaps. If you have any others that you are thinking about ordering, maybe a description of those. She may have a specific type of scent she wants or dislikes... (Like a smelling menu...)

If you are selling them to her wholesale, you need a copy of her reseller's license (could also be called a Sales & Use Certificate, Retail license, etc. depending on your state) This is for your records in case you are audited to prove why you didn't collect sales tax on the sale.

I love the colors, but I hope you didn't print out lots of those :(
The weight of the soap is in the wrong place (it should be at the bottom of the principal display panel) and you also need the metric weight. Also, if you are listing ingredients on your labels, you really do need to list all the ingredients. Otherwise you could get in trouble for deceptive labeling. Do you have your address on the back?

I think your labels look great! Very nice packaging. :D
I do agree with Genny, though, about the ingredients, etc.
