Hi,
I have never made a candle before but since I have been experimenting with soap and lotion lately I thought hey why not attempt a candle too. I have some yellow beeswax beads from BB that I used to make chapstick, could I use this to make a candle with? I already have mica and fragrance oils. So could i just buy some wicks and get started? Or should I buy a special wax?

It's not quite that easy. You would need to experiment with different wicks to get the right melt pool. Some fragrances or essential oils don't work well with beeswax. Colors specifically made for wax work the best. The mica could clog the wick.

If you decide to get another type of wax, you would still need to experiment with the right size wicks, the correct melt pool and fragrance.

My beeswax has a nice honey scent, so I don't add any FO's most of the time. I have a couple customers that like spicy FO's (cinnamon, pumpkin, gingerbread) and they usually mix with and enhance the honey scent of the wax. I usually never color my beeswax candles cause the yellowish color makes it hard to mix with colors. I use white beeswax if a customer wants a particular color, but the white, being bleached, doesn't have the nice honey scent the yellow does. 8)
