Teach Soap

Hi There,
My sister and I are going to have a little crafting night and wanted to try making these cute mason jar candles. >>> https://www.pinterest.com/pin/91972017370664792/

I am a soap maker, not a candle maker so this is new territory for me and I wanted to make sure I am not making something that will be a fire hazard. The gist of the instructions said to drill a hole through the lid, put olive oil in the jar add wick and decorations as well as essential oils. I'm not sure how the EO's would diffuse or if they would at all and I wanted to make sure the mason jar wouldn't become a little bomb.

Any feedback is much appreciated!

Using just olive oil as a candle could make the candle smokey. Also some essential oils like orange can smell like burnt fuel.
I'm not even sure what type of a wick would work for this. In the olden days, they used tallow for candles. It smoked.
