So I have been doing some burn tests today and I am confused. I am using Golden Brands 464 in a 2 3/4 diameter jar. Candle science suggests using Eco Wick 10. I made 2 candles one with the Eco10 and decided to try one with an Eco8. After 4 hours both had reached a wax pool of the entire diameter however the Eco8 burns faster than the Eco10. The Eco8 was at a depth of 2" where the Eco10 was at a 1/2". Why is the smaller wick burning so much faster? Shouldn't be the other way around?

The problem with a faster burning wick is that it can tunnel. You want a nice even slow burn. That's why testing is so important. Just because the wick burns faster, does not make it the correct wick for certain type of waxes.
