What % fragrance? And what type of soy wax? I too use an electric melter and 100% soy wax, but haven't had any issues with throw. Even at 5% you should get more than proximal throw, but it may take some experimenting to get it just right. Wax can be a b**** to work with until you get used to it!
That said, you may find it easier to work with a soy/paraffin blend and slowly work up to 100% soy. It took me a few years to get comfortable with using just soy. You can mix a blend yourself too! Maybe 65% soy and 35% paraffin, or 50/50.
I started out just over 20 years ago using canning paraffin
got a 25lb block of paraffin wax for Christmas that year, was the happiest kid alive!
You can get blocks of paraffin at Michaels or AC Moore if you need some asap. I chipped away at mine with a hammer and one of my Dad's chisels! Ice picks work well too
Good luck, my friend! Wax can be a delight, after you get to know it!
