Hi Everyone,

I have a film on the top of my soy candles. I am pouring the wax into travel tins. I have never had this happen with glass containers.

What causes this? Is there anything I can do to the candles I have already poured?

It's not very attractive.

Are they cooling down to quickly maybe?

You could hit the tops of them very lightly with a heat gun. Just enough to slightly melt the top. But don't hold the heat gun too close otherwise it might blow the wax everywhere.

Heat gun is best *nods*. Are you warming the tins before you pour? I find the film forms if the tin is too cool. You can either warm them in the oven, a hot water bath, or even with your heatgun!

Hi Hestey, Yes, I do warm the tins in the oven. This is what I'm trying now. I put soy candles in the oven at 200 degrees until the tops melted about 1/4"; then I shut the oven off and leave the door open. They don't appear to have any frost now as the soy wax hardens!

This seems to be working!!!!

Putting the candles in the oven worked! No frost this morning!
