I made my first palm wax pillar. It turned out beautiful, however, I have about 5hours burn time on it and it is just making a silver dollar size hole in the middle. Do these candles usually waste a lot of wax? Also I used about 7 oz wax and probably 3 oz fragrance (creme brulee) but it does not give a very strong throw if any at all. Bummer this is usually a great f.o. (mold size 2x4.5 round)

Candles need a little time to cure like soaps do. Give it a couple of days and see if the scent throw is any better. As far as the melt pool, it sounds like you need to wick up.

Maybe a bigger wick.
Also - is the fragrance designed for candles? If it is just a regular fragrance oil then it may not be tested for it's performance in candles, just in soap and being skin safe.

There is a great chart here; http://www.brambleberry.com/candlesupplies.aspx for helping figure out what size wick you need for a candle. :D

Thank you for that chart. I just ordered CD-16 a couple days ago, those might be over kill. The one I used was a last minute pick up at the craft store so I don't even know the size.
