Teach Soap

Yaya! I'm finally on...(accidentally hit the under 13 button, grrr)....

I'm Lucy, 26 from Jarja (Georgia). I've been lurking for awhile now, pretty sure I've read most everything under CP and MP to at least page 5. I've yet to make a batch of soap yet, but I feel like I've got a really good idea of how things are expected to go (knock on wood). Now I'm just waiting on my BB order, does it usually take **two** stinking full weeks?!?!?! I'm sooo stinking excited, it's pretty much all I can talk/think/dream about (ocd much). My friends and family will be happy when my supplies finally get here so I can stop talking and start doing.

I think my first soap will be a Castile soap, haven't decided if I wanna try for 100% OO yet or not. I know 100% OO soap is my fav. But then the wait...

In my BB order, I got Ginger Ale scent and Berrywine (heard lots of people loving this one). Anyone ever have any issues with these that I should know about....?

I have a whole stinking list of questions wrote out....somewhere...now if only I can find them....

Welcome Lucy! So glad you're here. Once you get started soaping you're gonna be hooked. Such an addiction for me, anyway! Good luck with your first batch when you get to it and be sure to add pictures. We LOV pictures!

I love olive oil soaps. They're fairly simple for a newby to do, which is good. Some pointers for them though is, it takes forever to reach trace with 100% olive oils soaps when you use full water. I always recommend a new soaper use full water though. Also, castile soaps feel much better after they've cured for atleast 6 months if not longer.

Hi Lucy! Welcome for TN!

I've used Berrywine and it's really easy to use. I may be wrong, but I think the Ginger Ale accelerates trace a bit.

Thanks for all the tips.

I really love OO soap...I bought some from a craft fair this weekend (field research ), it was a bag of "butts". I think some pieces have DOS, or some type of rot., with some soft spots. I'M not 100% sure. It might just be the additives. She has oats in a lot and I'm not sure what's in the rest. I'll try to post pictures if I can get my camera working.
