Teach Soap

Hello!
I'm Kyme, and got an interest in soap making after being a long-time buyer of many handmade soaps at conventions and even from friends. I never went back to store-bought stuff again. As a college student always looking for a little bit of tuition funds, I thought that it would be a fun side project! Because it will be just a small craft to the side, I'm definitely leaning towards M&P, as it seems a little easier. However, I do have a few little questions!

- First of all, as I plan to sell these at conventions or on etsy, I assume I need some sort of business insurance. Though, as Ive stated, I'm a poor college kid that still lives at home as I go to university, and do not have much money to spend. What are my wisest options regarding this?

- For the melt and pour process, I want to use the hempseed oil base, and perhaps add minute amounts of coconut oil or tallow. Is this a good idea? Also, what are some oils that will soften the base and make it creamier?

Depending where you live, I would look up RLI insurance or google the Soap Guild. You can add up to 1 TBS of an oil or butter per lb. of MP soap base. Any more then that and you will loose lather. I would not soften the base because it won't lather if you add that much. Where did you base come from and why would you want to soften it?
