Teach Soap

Hello,

The Hot Process soap recipes that I have seen are for larger batches. (I've read that small batches do not do well for hot process). Since I have a small 2 quart round crock pot I would like to know if I can 'halve or quarter' a larger recipe (down to quarter ounces), and have it turn out OK.

I've done several successful small batches of cold process soap (1 lb. batches) and would now like to try hot process. But, do not want to make more than a one pound batch to begin with. I have not gotten to the point of calculating my own recipes. I prefer to follow recipes already tried and true.

Take the recipe that you have and run it through Summe Bee Meadow lye calculator. At the bottom of the page, there is a button that says recalculate my recipe. Put 1 lb. in there. Since you are making such a small recipe, I would also convert it to grams. It's more accurate.
