Hi, I am really new to soapmaking and have been watching this forum for a while now. I really enjoy some of the projects I've seen here. I was thinking about making some simple projects and selling them but after reading the page about insurance, I got really nervous. :shock:

So for now, I will just stick to making soap for friends and family and have fun with it!!

Welcome! I think we have all made stuff without insurance at one time - I didn't get any till I started selling a lot!

Hi everyone, Peggi, I did not mean to scare you :shock:

, I just read the page about purchasing insurance and it was something I really didn't think about, but now I definitely am wondering if I should make them to sell. Maybe it's just me, I sometimes worry too much, but I also don't like taking any chances.

I am guessing that as long as you list the ingredients(even if it is a M&P), then you would probably be okay??? Maybe some of the pros here can give us some input on this!!!!

This site is wonderful with so many great ideas and tips, I think anything you ever need to learn about soapmaking is right here. You girls/guys are great!!! I've never seen such original and creative soaps AND everyone seems so nice and helpful!

PS - the "little logo" does not mean you have Insurance with the guild - it only means you are a Member. There are different levels of Membership starting at (I think) $65.00 a year for a Membership with no Insurance.

You can also get Insurance from RLI for much less and they are not any part of The Guild.

(I am still having a hard time wondering what you mean by a monopoly.)
