Teach Soap

Hello!!
Very new to soap making. Actually,have not made a batch yet. I am sure I will have many questions. I found this recipe for a lotion bar that looked easy to make. Should I start with something like this or should I start with the melt and pour??

4 oz shea butter
4 oz beeswax
5 oz liquid oil (jojoba or grapeseed)
2 tsp essential oil or fragrance oil

i'm also new to this, but i have been doing m&p soaps. i also did some salve and lip balms.
i have not make any lotion yet so lets look together for this.

I think that recipe looks good to start with. Not too many ingredients or a preservative to have to worry about.

Keep in mind that Shea Butter can be tricky to melt... if you do it too hot or too quickly it will get grainy. Here is some more info on that;

Also - I would not recommend melting the beeswax in the microwave. While this may not always happen, it could and I would rather play it safe!

If you have the ingredients, go for the lotion bar.

If you have everything you need for MP soap, you can just gently melt it, add your fragrance and pour into a mold.
