Teach Soap

I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with dispersing TD. I just finished a project in the Soap Crafting Club - the Wine Twist - and had a problem with the TD dispersing, which I've not experienced before. I wish I could post a picture, but the smallest I can get the picture is 30 kb, which is a bit too big for here.

I used the TD that Bramble Berry supplied with the kit and dispersed it in 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil, as directed. I did notice that it seemed lumpier than usually, but carried on without any concern and would just give it some extra whips with my mini mixer. As soon as I turned on my stick blender, I knew I was going to have a problem. I cut it this morning, and it was not good; speckles of white throughout the entire loaf which, of course, smeared when I cut. And not just a few speckles, a lot of speckles. It seems that this td just didn't perform well, is that possible? And wouldn't you know, the soap came out perfectly otherwise.

BB'S TD actually works WAY better in water for me, so it probably was the dispersing in oil that did that

Any new TD that I buy I test it. I put some on my finger and run that finger under running water. If it washes off it's water soluble. If the TD beads up it's oil soluble.

I really think this td I received for this kit was overly clumpy, but I received some good advice on another thread to put it in the coffee grinder to break up the clumps first. I get almost everything from BB, and have received clumpy td, but I noted that this td was unusually clumpy. Should have set it aside, but will do the coffee grinder thingy from now on. That is very interesting about water vs. oil. Time to test for myself which works best.
