Hey all. Just thought I'd introduce myself real quick. I'm a total noob at Cold Process soapmaking. Several years ago I successfully made soap and gave them as Christmas presents. It was a coconut/olive oil soap and my sister liked it so much she asked for more. Grandma wouldn't touch it. "Lye soap!? My momma used that to clean the floor." I couldn't talk her out of that notion. Anyhow. I decided to do the same again this year.
My first project this time was to make a basic(cheap) and useful kitchen soap. This time I made it out of Crisco, sunflower oil and strong coffee, with some grounds mixed in for scrubbing. It looks
okay, still smells kind of like coffee. Still curing but will be ready this week. My other projects thus far are...well you'll see.
See what had happened is I've been looking at all the gorgeous art soap people are making and my creative brain has gone into
overdrive. I'm actually kind of obsessed but also a little overwhelmed at this point. I've been over volumes of tutorials and browsed the supply websites for hours at a time oh and of course browsing the pictures on this forum. WOW!
So now trying to decide exactly what I
need, exactly what my goal for now is and to put it all together. Figured it would be best to get some real feedback from folks. I'm going post some pics and questions in the CP forum.
