Teach Soap

Hello to everyone...I'm so glad I've found this forum. It has been so informative. I'm trying to decide if I've found a new addiction or if its a calling. I've always been into environmentally friendly things. I make upcycled Jewelry from Aluminum cans and plastic soda bottles. So making homemade bath and body products just seemed natural to me.

I started a couple months ago making my own lip balm, deodorant and natural neosporin. So I thought I'd try my hand at soap. Using the lye somewhat freaked me out. I didn't mind handling it, I've handled worse. I used to working in Environmental consulting dealing with contaminated groundwater. I was more concerned with being lye heavy or pockets in the finished product. So my first try at soaping I went HP. I used my old crock pot, found a recipe I liked and tweeked it. I ran it through BB's lye calculator and off I went. I used a plastic drawer organized I got from dollar tree for well $1. Oh my....I was so pleased my first batch, it turned out great. It was a shampoo bar. Little to drying for my hair but makes a good body soap. So I decided to try again. I found a new recipe and infused the oil with Calendula before using it. I used a pringles container this time...2nd batch....love it. Even added some dried Calendula before gloping in the mold. The 3rd batch...oh my..I'm getting gutsy..crushed lavender and lavender essential oil. I used the same formula as the 2nd batch just used lavender instead at the end.

I would like to sell eventually but I'm not ready for that yet. Still have some research, testing and need the good ole licenses and insurance. I'll work up to that. But I think I may have found my calling. I really love this stuff. I'm going to take the plunge and go CP on my next batch.

Welcome Galena! I'm pretty new too and this forum is great. Full of wonderful people who really know their stuff
I've been making natural body care products and EO perfumes for myself and friends but CP soaping is very new to me.
