Hello Everyone!
I thought it prudent to introduce myself. I'm Katie White and I live in Terrell Texas and have been soaping for 1 year. I'm only 17 ! That's right ! I just love soap ! However, i'm about to attempt Goat's milk and was wondering if any of you soap queens and kings have any advice. I use the cold process method exclusively. Thank's so much and I hope to be a help and friend to all on the forum!

Welcome Katie!
You can use any recipe to make goat's milk soap. If you haven't made it before, I suggest that you dissolve your lye in minimum water required, then add the rest as goat's milk.

Hi Katie! It's so nice to hear of someone your age making soap! :D
I highly recommend Anne Watson's book on Milk Soapmaking. She has some great instructions, tips and recipes. I use powdered goats milk added to my oils before adding my lye solution and it works really well. Just be careful when using any kind of milk in your soaps because it can make the soap heat up very quickly and it can overheat in a blink!

Hi, Katie, and welcome to the forum! I also recommend Anne Watson's "Milk Soapmaking." There are also lots of threads here at this forum about milk soapmaking. If you have any questions, ask away! Have fun! :)

Hi Katie! Your soaps look great and the scents sound wonderful. One question tho, in addition to what soapbuddy said about the cure time, is there a reason you don't have ingredients listed? When I look at soaps online, I like to know what goes into them. 8)

Hello Katie, Sorry I'm joining this conversation a little late. I just took a soap making class a few months ago to learn how to make goat milk soap. I was taught to freeze the milk in ice cube trays first, this way the lye won't burn the milk. The small size of the frozen "milk cubes" makes it easy to weigh out in ounces. You don't have to cover or wrap the soap once it's put in the mold, it does get warm before cooling down. I hope this helps a little. :D :D
