Teach Soap

Hello everyone,
I've very new to the group. I've never made my first batch of soap yet!
I'm still gathering equipment and supplies. And doing my homework first!
I'm learning so much just by ready everyone's posts. and looking at the wonderful
work some of you have shared.
I'm planning on just making a simple C&P recipe for my first batch. pretty plain
compared to all of you.
I'm sure I too will have questions very soon.

Welcome!
Start small and convert your recipe into grams to get more accurate results. Don't forget your safety gear, don't use any glass for using/mixing your lye and make sure that any metal is stainless steel only.

I've been reading up on the safety's. I watched the video for beginners too!
My husband has already said he wants me to make my first batch outside
so I won't blow up the house!!! I don't think he has much confidence in my
new adventure.
But I'm not going to let it bother me. I'm very excited!!! I've always wanted to try making soap.
I just love the different creations I've always seen other make.
I'm hoping tomorrow will be my day to make my first batch of Soap!

Welcome to the forum, LilacLady! Starting with a small, simple recipe is the way to go for your first CP batch. I worried about "blowing up the house," too, but once I got that first batch done, a lot of my anxieties disappeared. Good luck and have fun!

Thank You everyone for your vote of confidence in me. I'm sad to say, I still haven't been able to
make my first batch of soap yet.My old obligation of canning vegetables is still holding me up again. But I've finally finished the last of the garden. So now I'm a free woman!!
Here's hoping tomorrow will be my day. ( Being my luck the cows will get out or something will
come up.)

Hello again everyone,
well I finally made my first batch of C P soap,I was so excited when it started to trace!!! yeah!
But I 'm not sure how to tell when I can take it out of the mold and cut?? I make it Sept.1,2011
at about 3 p.m. I can tell it's a little soft yet,I know i'm excited to take it out. But I'm trying to be
patient. ( )
Also I have a question. I'm looking all over in my area Rolla,MO. and I can't find palm oil,and Shea butter anywhere.
is it something I'll have to order on line?
My husband is wanting me to make him some Shaving soap now! I guess I've convinced him I'm not going to blow up the house.
