What does it mean to soap at a lower temperature? Is that before mixing the lye water and oil to let them get to a lower temperature?

I was making Coffee Grounds soap and let the oils get to about 114 and the lye water to 118. After pouring in the mold, it heaved up in the middle. The room temperature was cool and outside temperature around 60. I had windows and doors open.

Welcome!
Lye water will always heat up when you combine water and lye. I normally soap at about 110 degrees (US) for both oils and lye. Some soaps tend to go into gel faster, no matter what the ambient temperature is. Do you have a thermometer?

Thank you! Yes, I do have a thermometer I purchased from Brambleberry that I really like! I will try soaping at about 110.
