I have been trying to perfect loaf soap with embeds. I am using colored soap chips from my other soaps that didn't work. My mold holds almost 3 lbs of main soap and I am melting it all in the same container. I pour my bottom layer, wait for it to set a little and then do layer of embeds. Then I have to wait for the soap to cool down so I can pour the next layer. The temp is above 130 but my soap begins to set up and becomes the consistency of glue. When I take the soap out of the mold to cut, it separates. I do the alcohol but it doesn't stick together.
I don't know if its because I am waiting so long between layers to pour the next layer or not. Should I try to melt all the soap in three different containers so they are all ready to pour when I need them? My soap is so cute and smells so good, I almost cried when the bottom came off and a layer from the top. Please help if you can.

Whose base and what type and color chips are you using?

LCP base does set up faster. How are you melting it? I would put your embeds in the fridge so they are cold. That way you can put them in while the soap is a little warmer. I prefer a Presto pot to melt my MP base.

you can also use a double boiler and a temp gun... making sure that MP is 120 to 125 degrees with y9our temp gun. though the freezer embed idea I will have to try too. I dont use the LCP base so it may differ .
