I might have asked this here before, so forgive me if this is redundant (my brain is on overload!).
Hoping to get to some M&P this evening and want to get prepped for colors. I will be using Clear SFIC base.

I have pigments already mixed in bottles with glycerin. These are okay, right?
I also bought some Purple Passion Olive Oil colorant from BB. Is this useable for clear M&P? http://www.brambleberry.com/Purple-Pass ... P3483.aspx
I have a few micas----how do I use those best? Do I premix them? If so, in what?

Pigments in glycerine will work great. I don't think those Olive Oil LabColors will work in MP, since they are designed for High PH soaps.

For micas, depending on how much you are using. If it's just a small amount I put it in a cup and spray it with rubbing alcohol. I usually use micas in MP for a slight shimmer, so I don't use much. Otherwise, for larger amounts of mica, mix with glycerine first.

it's really easy to go overboard with micas!

Yeah, I've been warned to go light on the micas :). Will try the "spray with alcohol" route first so I don't overdo it (hopefully!)
Although it looks like it might have to wait until tomorrow or later, as my littlest one fell tonight and hit her nose/mouth pretty hard. Not so happy now (and my hubby and two oldest are out for the night, so I need to be in "Comforter" mode, not "Soapmaker" mode, lol).

Follow-up question... Why are you mixing the mica in glycerine or rubbing alcohol for the melt and pour, instead of just adding it to the melted base?
To reduce speckling or bubbles?

Um, because I've never done M&P and I've read that's what you're suppose to do? I *think* it's to give it a better distribution and to reduce the clumping, but that is just my inexperienced guess!

Gotcha :) I've done 2 soap days so far, just waiting on my next shipment of supplies from BB to have more fun!

I usually do 4 or 5 for that much, but also heaping. To get an idea of what it's going to look like you can drop some on wax paper to see what it's going to look like when it's cooled.
