The only M&P bases i have used so far is from Wistera Lane. I really like their Cocoa Butter base. I was wondering what were the most popular BB bases. What is the difference between BBs LCP and regular white base. I looked at the ingredients and they seem to be the same. What exactly causes it to be LCP?

LCP has a lower glycerin content so it sweats less in humid conditions. I prefer the plain clear from BB.

I also noticed reading the ingredients from Wisteria Lanes bases that none of them contain Sodium Hydroxide. Why is that and how would that alter the difference in their base compaired to BB's bases?

All solid soaps start with sodium hydroxide. No lye, no soap, unless it's a syndet bar.

The FDA does not require ingredient labeling for soap.

As far as not listing lye, they most likely were labeling on a premise that A-M described in :

"You can put what is in the final soap, which would be glycerin, saponified oils and unsaponified oils with no mention of lye. The problem with this method is that you need to know exactly what order to put the ingredients in and to do that you need to know how much glycerin was produced as compared to the saponified oils. At this time, the only way to accurately do that is to have your soap tested to see what is present in the finished bar for each and every recipe you make."

Guess its best to look up the laws in your country, since clearly they differ greatly! My labels show what I put into the soap, not what the ingredients have become during the process.

I am proud of the ingredients that I use in my soap so I list it. I don't make any claims besides that it gets you clean. I will not buy handmade soap without ingredients.

My favorite M & P base is SFIC. I use a combination of aloe, LCP, cocoa butter, or goat's milk. Depends on my mood & the soap I have sold or given away seems to be liked.
