Teach Soap

Hey, has anyone ever tried to shred loofah themselves? I'm snowed under with homegrown loofahs, and I'd like to shred them myself; I'm looking for a final product similar to BB's shredded loofah. So far, I've only managed to get a coarser end product. It actually reminds me of shredded wheat! Any ideas?

I haven't tried to shred it, but wonder if a coffee grinder would work? It may make it more like a powder tho...

I don't have an answer, but am interested in how to do this. We're currently growing our first loofah plants here!

I got some shredded loofah aaaaaages ago that wasn't as shredded as I would have liked. More shredded clumps stuck together. I popped handfuls in the food processor and did short bursts to make it finer. I would imagine it would blunt the blades fairly quickly if doing a lot of it though...

I tried the coffee grinder first; that was my first instinct too. And yes, I wound up with half shredded clumps too. I'm thinking maybe a food processor on the fine grating blade might help. Unfortunately, I don't have one of my own, so I'll have to go try it with my mom's! I'll let you know how it turns out! Thanks for the help everyone!
