Teach Soap

Hi,
Are there two different kinds of mica? I never have problems with BB mica. I dissolve it in alcohol or glycerin.

I bought mica - neon colors from WSP. I can not get any of these colors to dissolve in alcohol or glycerin.

Should I be using an oil to dissolve them? Will they completely dissolve in an oil? How do I know what kind of mica I am buying?

I have even tried straining the mixture before I pour it into my MP soap.

I really want to use these beautiful colors!

Are you using their powders or bars?

I've not used the neon micas from WSP yet, but I've used their regular kind that they used to carry (don't think they carry them anymore) and they dissolved just fine in vegetable glycerin.

I just read the info for their Neon micas and it says they're used for oil based cosmetics, so it should disperse in oil. Just try a little bit in oil and see what happens.

No they are not the bars. I have tried dissolving the mica in Fragrance oil & mixing it really well, still leaves lots of spots.
I will try a little carrier oil and see what happens.

What I found online was glycerin or sweet almond oil for oil based pigments. I know the BB neons disperse in either.

I tried the sweet almond oil withe the violet mica. I have the most problems with the violet. I user the little BB mixer. It seems to be doing fine, no spots or clumping! Hooray!

I spoke too soon! It looked fine, but it has all violet speckles throughout!

The violet mica looked like it dissolved completely, but it didn't.

What's the secret?

Letting it sit in oil for several hours does help a bit.
