I would like to ask, why does white soaps tend to leave white residue on the sink? I made Oatmeal, milk, and honey soap made from melt and pour goatsmilk soap base (I got my m&p soap bases from brambleberry). I was really excited that I finally made my soap and gave them to my family and friends. They love the soap that I made... one complaint though is that my soaps leaves white residue on the sink!

I sent them the plain goatsmilk soap and did not add any color or scent, just heated the soap base and poured in a mold. They said it still does it, leaves white residue on the sink... are all white soap bases tend to leave white residue? I haven't tried the clear melt and pour soap base yet... would that solve the problem? Help please!

If they are leaving the soap wet or sitting in a wet soap dish, it will leave a white residue. The soap needs to be kept dry between uses.

They are complaining that after they used my soap, it leaves white residue on the shower. I noticed that too when I use my soaps. I tried the plain version (I didn't scent or color the soaps) and it still leaves white residue on my skin and also on the shower floor. Are all titanium dioxide colored soaps does this? Or is it because of the soap base I am using? Will the clear soap base be better choice than the white/goatsmilk one?

Try mixing 2/3 white to 1/3 clear and see if that helps.

Ok I will try that. Thanks! :)

But I am still curious though, why does the white base soaps leaves white residue? I noticed if I washed my hands twice with my goatsmilk oatmeal soap, it does leave the white residue on my hands. Is it because of titanium dioxide or is it because of the other ingredients on the soap? :(

The one that I have is the goatsmilk bulk base soap AND the brambleberry specialty bases goatsmilk (yeah I am in love with goatsmilk soaps!). I am just not happy that it leaves white residue. I thought it was only me, but my family honesty told me their only complaint is the white residue, but it does really good moisturizing because I put extra shea oil and sweet almond oil in there too aside from oatmeal, cowsmilk, buttermilk, and honey. :P

Smells delicious and it really does moisturize, feels like after using the soap (which is a reward) I get punished with cleaning the white residue left over of my guilty pleasure (too long in the shower maybe?).

How much extra shea oil and sweet almond oil are you adding? How much extra milk? There should be no need to add more milk if it has milk already. I would not add more then one TBS of any oil TOTAL per lb. of MP base. That might be your problem.

Hi Irena, maybe you are right. I put too much oil/milk in the soap  .... so the rule is only 1 tablespoon of oil per lb of base soap? :)
