Teach Soap

I am new here and new to soap making. I got to it making the wipe solution for my son and thought I can make my own soap as well.
So far I am enjoying it and like to experiment with fragrance etc.

But I have a question about moisturizers. I am allergic to cocoa butter and shea butter is not my friends either (even so I can use that occasionally) what can I use to moisturize - I do have fairly dry skin as well.

Also does anyone have a good source for ratios. I do have a book with recipes but I really can't follow recipes and prefere to just experiment myself.

Be very careful with that wiping solution. Since you are adding lots of water, it can grow germs or bacteria in a short period of time (24 hours or more), even if your eyes can't see them.
If you can't use shea butter, try mango or cocoa butter or something as simple as pure olive oil. Or you can make a lotion bar with 1/3 butters, 1/3 oils, 1/3 wax.

Thanks for the answer. I am wondering how can it grow bacteria - I am only using distilled water, witch hazel, baby oil and tea tree oil - I am not wetting the wipes until I use them.
