Teach Soap

I recently have been getting ready for a craft show and
stored some soaps (wrapped in cling) in an airtight container
not in sunlight. I looked at them today and they have either
fadedor turned a greenish shade. The ones made with micas
seem worse than those with liquid colorants, any help here
will be greatly appreciated

Some micas do fade over time. How long ago did you make them?

What color did you use, how much and where did the colors come from?

I didn't use very much, they were light colors?
still see through. They were from Florida soap
co, they were a gift. One I used mica the other
I used liquid.

Sorry to intrude, but do I have to worry about this with BB bases and colorants? I know direct sunlight is a no no, but what about indirect sunlight, like selling at a farmer's market?

Some micas do fade. Most of BB's micas I have tried so far have held up well, but I noticed that BB's Mauvey Gem mica fades from a strong, deep purple to a light pinkish-purple. But I do love micas, and I have many favorites that don't fade. Experiment with a small batch to see how a new mica does.

mslala, sunlight can fade your colors, so I would try to keep your soaps out of the sunlight as much as possible. If you're outdoors, stay under a tent or somehow create ample shade for your products. BB does make a UV inhibitor (http://www.brambleberry.com/Uv-Inhibitor-P3563.aspx) that is supposed to help protect against fading. I've been using the mica powders from Coastal Scents for several years now (but only
recently in soaps) and the colors hold up well in resins and in full sunlight. I never
thought about the color fading in soap, but I'm new to this. Now I'll have to put a
few out in the sun and see what happens.
