Does anyone know of a supplier for SFIC melt and pour bases on/near the mid-East coast?

Shipping is killing me. Today I received an order for 2 cases (36 pounds each). Shipping was more than $84, more than the price for a case of soap.

I'm east coast Connie (einnoc) too! I'm just not there anymore! Someday, tho!

From Nature with Love is in CONN. Just be careful, any bases you buy from them don't have any SLS in them.
From what I understand, starting last March 2011, they removed the SLS from their bases.

Connie, if you can manage to buy in bulk, ordering directly from SFIC is a very workable option. A fellow soaper & I went in on 1000 pounds of base last month, & while it was a bit staggering to pay for it all in one go, the cost per pound, even with the freight charges, made it more than worthwhile. TartChef, thank you for the suggestion on bulk ordering. I'm in a small Manhattan apartment, with barely enough room to keep the 100 or so lbs of soap I like to keep here. My apartment has been taken over by soap making and shipping supplies. My son recently said, "Mom, you can't keep the fragrances in the pantry! The chips taste like Papaya Coconut!" I was embarrassed to tell him I had spilled the whole bottle in there. I don't even have the space to temporarily house an SFIC order to then set up a co-op.

Your Etsy soaps are fabulous! I just started a store there. Building an inventory. But, I'm in it for the fun and don't want to get as competitive as I've seen others be on the site. I'm retired after almost 40 years in a pressure-cooker, executive career in the business world.

Not quite the East coast, but it's closer than Washington state! I'm in northwest Florida and usually get my stuff from Elements in 2-3 days, and the shipping costs are reasonable.

Thanks, JRose. Shipping on 100 lbs for me from Elements Bath & Body would be $65. And, they don't carry low-sweat as far as I can tell.

Hello, Fellow East Coaster

The other Connie in this thread (I love that) suggested From Nature with Love in Connecticut. Their bases are essentially the same as the BB bases now that they've removed SLS from them. I believe BB's bases are SFIC bases with a private label. And, their shipping is half of what I've been paying. Someone from BB can clarify, I'm sure.

If I wasn't currently using low-sweat bases, I'd use From Nature with Love in a flash. I just ordered a bunch of other stuff from them.

From what I have received from FNWL - they are not SFIC (BB) bases by a long short!
When I first got started & BB was back ordered with lots of orders I ordered from FNWL.
I ended up with all these bases with SLS that are still sitting here!

I know one of the CS people can ask her if the new bases are SFIC. I have ordered from them since they have the new bases, but I have not ordered any bases from them since they made the change. It didn't sound like they were changing their supplier, just the way the base was made, but I don't know for sure. I will try and find out.

I need to look at my geography, Lotions n'Lathers are in Indiana. Christine is very good about flat rates on orders of 10 lbs or over. They have very fast shipping and are very accommodating ! Their prices are a little higher, but again she will work with you. Of course, I compare everyone to BB, so ...

I will call my friend at FNWL and find out if their bases are in fact new and where they come from.

Well according to their site and ingredient list, they are far from the natural bases of BB. They have a whole bunch 'o surficants... not for me... I won't by that stuff.
I'm looking for the BB quality bases closer to home.

I agree. I just looked. Nothing seems to have changed. I'm stuck with all these bases with SLS!

It's really easy to get hooked into this in the beginning. Essentially, this isn't any different than what one could buy at the store. Right?
