Hi Everyone,
Why do some soapers put whipped frosting butter into there MP soaps?

This is the whipped Foaming-Bath-Butter that BB sells. http://www.brambleberry.com/Foaming-Bat ... P4955.aspx.

Is this what soapers use to make the frosting on top of their soaps?

To make whipped frosting, does it need to be melted first & then whipped?

I use it on my mini-cupcake soaps because it makes them look a little more "real". :) I use a combination of the whipped soap base, melt and pour base, and glycerin. Once I have the M&P base melted, I pour it into the whipped soap base, add glycerin and whip them all together until I have a frothy mixture. It's tricky knowing when to stop blending: If you stop too early, the mixture is too runny....But if you blend too much, it gets too hard to use (because of the m&p). I've gotten better at knowing when it's ready by trial & error! Once that is done, I put the mixture into the icing bags that cake decorators use....and then "frost" my soap cupcakes. They turn out great. Here's a picture of the ones I have listed on Etsy so you can see what they looks like.

Hope this helps!

Wow, that does look like real frosting.
Is the frosting soft or hard when you're done with it?

It gets pretty hard after a couple of days....I think that's because there is m&p added to it. If you use whipped soap by itself, it stays soft.

I am going to have to give that a whirl sometime. Usually when I do frosting I just whip up some mp with a bit of vegetable glycerin added to it.

Hi, I asked BB about spraying the cupcake base with alcohol before adding the frosting. It doesn't show the base being sprayed in the video.
This is the answer I received:

"With the melt and pour cupcakes, it really doesn’t matter if you spray them with rubbing alcohol or not. Because the soap is whipped you will be able to peel it off the base even if you use rubbing alcohol. We demonstrate the peeling of the frosting in the video 5:20 in."

I'm not sure what this means exactly, other than it doesn't matter that much if it's sprayed which seems to be a contradiction.

Here are 2 recipes for whipped frosting:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... cakes&aq=f
http://goplanetearth.com/project_soap_frosting.html

I would like to find one myself using MP & glycerin.

Can anyone help us out?

here's one they say works well - I haven't tried it yet.... LOL

Ingredients:
2 lb. White Soap Base
1 lb. Foaming Bath Whip
2-5 oz Liquid Glycerin
1.5 oz Fragrance Oil (if desired)

Directions:
Melt soap as directed. Add melted soap to (room temperature) bath whip. Add glycerin. Note: more glycerin will give creamier frosting but will take longer to harden. Add fragrance oil. Mix with hand mixer until smooth. Frosting will become hard in 24 hours.

TeriM,
Thank you so much! :D This looks like it makes a lot!

I've heard 1 lb of bath whip needs to be used to make it whip properly.

Can I save what I don't use & melt it & whip again?

Since I can't find the foaming bath whip here in Greece, I guess it would be OK to use only the m&p base and the glycerin?
