I hear that coco butter soap base makes the soap harder. Will that also help the soap to not melt in hot summer? Is there anything you can do or use to help soap not melt easily? I am afraid of shipping in summer months.

I just read on here that bee's wax will make the bar hard too. I have a soap that keeps bugs off of you and helps fight poison ivy too. It works well just washing in the shower but I find that just moistening the bar and rubbing down all exposed skin without washing off works better then the harmful bug sprays with deet. It dries sticky free. Im not sure if the bar should be moisturizing and soft or if I need to make it hard to help it not melt during summer months.

LOVE this forum.

That bug bar sounds great-- is that a recipe I can find somewhere? My daughter has very sensitive skin and is just a little girl so I hate putting all the chemicals on her skin. My DH is horribly allergic to poison ivy and I had never heard of something to block that! Comical as he looks, it would sure make him happy if I could prevent it! :D

Thanks!
Marie

I make and sell MP during the hot summer months where we get triple digit temps. I tried beeswax, but I got less lather so I don't use that anymore. I make sure that the soap doesn't sit in water, it's kept away from heat and any sun. Then it does fine. I also shrink wrap my MP as soon as it's done.

At hot markets, I keep one bar of a kind out. The rest are under ice, underneath the table in a cooler to make sure they stay cold.
