Telling how much ess oil to use to lbs of soap base? My cinnamon soap caused an allergic reaction in a friend. This has never happend before and I'm pretty sure it wasn't to strong. She said she has sensitive skin. I want to make sure I'm not adding to much ess oil to the soap base. I also add a tiny bit of cloves ess oil and some ground cinnamon and cloves but only a pinch. This is the first time anyone has ever had a probelm with it.

Cloves and cinnamon do irritate the skin and have to be used in very small %. I would have used less then 0.1%. So for 1 lb. of soap base, you would need only 0.016 oz. (about 5-7 drops).

Ok thank you. That is around what I used with the cinnamon oil and the cloves even less. Just wanted to make sure I didn't do something wrong.

Did it cause an allergic reaction or just irritated skin? If it was an allergic reaction, it won't matter how little you put in there, she's going to react to it.
If it was just irritated skin, then it's just too much for her sensitive skin. My daughter's skin is very sensitive to many things, here's a list of eo's & herbs that I was told to stay away from for her from her dermatologist:

* Citronella
* Clove
* Cumin
* Fennel
* Fir
* Ginger
* Lemon
* Lemongrass
* Lemon verbena
* Oak moss
* Orange
* Oregano

* Peppermint
* Pine
* Tagetes
* Thyme
* Wintergreen

Also, I just noticed that you said that you added a pinch of ground cinnamon & cloves to your soap, that would add to sensitivity issues as well.
