Hi, I'm new to soap making. I use a heat gun for candle making. When do you use a heat gun for soap making? Also, Some of the soap making videos I've seen show the soap being poured as a liquid. Others show the soap mixture being poured and it's thick like dough and dries with a rough wavy surface. Does this depend on the base used? Thanks everyone for all the great ideas and information! :P

Heat gun can be used to shrink wrap your soap. If the poured soap looks like liquid, it's most likely Melt N' Pour base. If it's thick like dough, that's most likely cold process soap at a thick trace or cold process soap that has been rebatched (remilled).
