So other than teach soap, etsy is where I go to freak myself out once a week and man are you Pros sharp, just when I think I have caught on....there you go again :)

Anywayz, while on etsy today I came across an undeniably skilled soaper. Is there ayone here that can tell what soaping methods are being used for her soaps because this stuff is looking Lush-like and beyond.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/44474230/ne ... n-handmade

http://www.etsy.com/shop/DeShawnMarie

Her work is gorgeous but when looking at the ingredients list, I do not see the key or usual m&P stuff e.g sorbitol and for the translucent soaps, I don't see alcohol listed as an ingredient and I thought that was the key when using the CP and HP methods .

Help if you can please guys.
Thanks

It looks like she isn't listing her complete ingredient list.

However, she calls them vegetable glycerin soaps, so I'm guessing that it's MP. Also, she has a section of rolled soaps, and those are MP.

I'd be interested to hear what others think these soaps are!

I didn't see a complete ingredient list either, but I did notice she mentioned "vegetable bases" - sounds like MP to me.

Thanks guys, I thought it was melt and pour at first too but the more I watched some of them they almost resembled CP especially with the added flowers and such and I also noticed there was no mention of a preservative so I just got a bit overwhelmed trying to figure it all out. I had thought about asking the seller but I didnt want to step on anybodys toes since I thought it was law that all ingredients be disclosed when selling or giving.

Yep! It's an MP base and she doesn't list all the ingredients.

I agree, definitely MP with ingredients selectively listed.

I think her products look lovely, but I think she doesn't list all her ingredients because of what she writes on her introduction page. She's into all this 'special recipes' stuff and basically it's M&P with additives.

I'm not knocking her, I think they look fab - I just don't think hiding behind 'special recipes' is fair as it's trying to fool customers into believing the product is something it's not.

Edited just to ask all you USA folks but can you state in the title of a product it's Organic if it's not actually certified Organic? In the UK you can't without it being officially certified Organic. Just wondered what USA laws were like on this? (Plus she states something is Organic but in the description says it's not 100% and she uses organic stuff when she can)

It looks like to me she's been reading up on her DSR's and thats why her returns and refund terms are so strict. She offers the minimum she has to offer by the looks of it, rather than being more tolerant to the customers by giving that bit more IYKWIM.

As of right now according to the rules and regs in the US, you don't have to list ingredients, just as long as it's soap. But most of us soapers are pretty proud of our ingredients so we list them. It's always a good idea to list ingredients, especially for those that have allergies.

DSR's = Distance Selling Regulations. That's what smacks of her terms if you ask me. But DSR's are here in the UK - I'm not sure what your 'DSR's would be over in the US - but her terms sound pretty similar as to what our minimum terms are over here.
