Teach Soap

I've been reading through the various posts and various soap forums, and there have been several opinions on hardening of MP soap. Would adding a little beeswax or stearic acid be the thing to add? I realize that adding too much of either one lessens the lathering properties, but many places say to add about 1 tablespoon per pound of MP base as a hardner. Any suggestions other then letting a fan blow on it? Thanks bunches!

If you purchase a quality base, there should be no need to add beeswax or stearic acid. I find either one lessens lather. Some people leave their made MP soap out to let some of the water evaporate for a couple of days before wrapping. This might not work for you if you live in a humid area, as that can make your MP soap sweat.

You can add castor oil, but since it won't saponify (MP soap is already made), I don't see how castor oil would give you more bubbles. In MP it stays as an oil. If you add honey in a small amount, you should not need a preservative.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to get a harder bar of MP soap with additives like beeswax or stearic acid without loosing lather. If you want to add a little more moisture, I would add shea or mango butter at 1 TBS. per lb. of MP base Max.
