PJ gives great advice on this! I understand the desire to find the right combination of ingredients to make sure you and your customers love your soap and recipe.

I notice that anything over 1 Tablespoon of additives (honey or any kind of oil) decreases lather and increases softness in the life of the soap. This is typically under 1/2 ounce of additives per pound of soap.

MP soap is all ready balanced for lather and moisture. Changing more than 5% of the formulation starts getting into trouble with shortchanging other areas (lather, life of soap in shower, rinseability).

Have fun experimenting - you'll definitely come across the perfect blend for your ideal soap with a little bit of trial and error.

I love adding honey to my shea mp base-adds a nice color, good for the skin, and customers, when hearing the name I call it (Shea, Honey...) get a grin on their face. My favorite bar in my shower is the Shea, Honey. I buy from a local bee keeper, and impatiently waiting for his bees to do their work (I like using things that are grown in our area, for the local economy)
