Teach Soap

Hi, all! I haven't been on the forum much, and I missed you guys. I've been out of town a bit and super-busy with other stuff.

Anyway, I have a lovely rosemary mint F.O. and I thought about adding a bit of dried rosemary in my soap base.

I thought it might be rustic, natural-looking, and nice.

I also thought that it might be scratchy, brown, disgusting-looking, and the opposite of nice.

Have any of you put dried rosemary into your soap base before? Did it get all brown and yucky? If I grind the dried rosemary a bit, will it be less scratchy?

Is this a good idea, or is it, like, the worst idea ever?

Yeah, I expect that it will turn brown. I was just wondering how bad it would be. Maybe I'll do a test bar and see what it does.

Maybe it's one of those things that sounds like a good idea, but probably isn't, at least in the long run.

I'm curious: would a powdered form of Rosemary (or any other powdered herb) also turn brown? If you add a preservative, would this stop the herb from turning brown? I have powdered Rosemary and Hibiscus and would like to use them for color.
