Teach Soap

Has anyone used Bare Minerals eyeshadow to color M&P soap? Aren't they mostly micas and minerals from the earth without binding agents or fillers? And I would think if they're safe enough for eyes, they should be safe enough for soap. My only real concern is the ingredient Bismuth Oxychloride. I'm not entirely sure what it is and how it would effect soap. Again, I was thinking safe for eyes should be safe for skin.

I have a ton of pretty eyeshadow that I'll never use up so I was thinking I might be able to use them to color soap. Thoughts?

I would think you'd be fine, Treesyjo - Bismuth Oxychloride is what adds the pearly sheen, working much like mica. Normally using mineral make-up would be cost-prohibitive, but if you have some you want to use up, I say go for it I'd stick to using the end product yourself, though...

Bismuth Oxychloride in mineral makeup is used to give it "slip" and adhesion. For some people with sensitive skin it may be irritating on their skin.

As for using it in MP - I personally wouldn't use it to color my soaps but let's see what others say

If it's for yourself, go for it. If it's for sale, I would be hesistant to sell it as many people have reactions to the Bismuth Oxychloride.
