Just a quick question ... when making M & P soap would it be possible to not mix your colour in properly - that is leave it with a swirly pattern and then pour? Was mixing ultramarine blue into white and it looked so lovely before I mixed it all through (it looked a lovely blue after too!). Just wondered if it would leave too much colour in each "swirl" and it would come off when you lathered up?
It's probably a dumb question but I wondered if it could be done or if there was a reason why it couldn't!

I'm not sure I wouldn't leave a colorant partially mixed in but if you wanted wanted to make swirls, I would do a double pour. Color one soap brightly with colorant and then make a separate white batch. Then wait until they're both fairly cool and almost to the point of congealing before pouring both colors and swirling them together. Check out SoapQueen TVhttp://www.youtube.com/user/soapqueen ... If you don't mix your color in properly, it could stain the tub or the washcloth. I would always mix very, very well. I'm no expert on MP swirls, but I find if I pour as cool as I can and pour each color from 2 different ends of the soap mold at the same time, I get some swirling effect.

Thanks treesyjo and soapbuddy. I've tried the double pour before with success, I was just having a lazy moment!! Looking at the darker blue as I mixed it through, it just looked rather pretty and I wondered ....

Trust me, it's not good to leave some of the UM blue (or violet) unmixed

It looked great, but washing wasn't so great. I didn't worry about the wash cloth, it was just running color so yep - take that extra bit of time and then swirl them together
