Teach Soap

So I have these cute little metal loaf pans that I want to use as soap molds. They are are about 5.75 inches by 3 inches and maybe 2 inches deep. Anyway, any suggestions on what I can do to ensure I can unmold my soap? I don't want to spray it with anything or put vaseline in it (do people really try that??) but plastic wrap seems impossible without adding wrinkles to the outside of the soap. I'm tempted to just pour it in and after it hardens, dip the outside in hot water just enough to loosen it to pop out. What do you think about that? I think with metal pan it might work. And maybe even try to pop it in the freezer for a bit before using the hot water. Because they are metal, I can't bend or move the mold to get an air bubble going. The metal is not flimsy.

Could you maybe use a plastic knife on one of the long sides after the soap is done to break the suction?

hmmm... I do have a small offset spatula. It's pretty thin. I'll try that first. Thanks!!

I agree with all of the advice you have gotten about using the metal pan.

Here's another idea: if you want to use the pan but would be interested in making a surface texture on your soaps, I created this tutorial inspired by cheese cured in cloth: http://thesoaplab.blogspot.com/2009/06/ ... soaps.html

Here's what they look like. I made them in my metal muffin tins. Where there's a will, there's a way!

I did use the little loaf tin and the soap came out great. I actually used them to make little bubble bars. 10 min in the freezer and then sliding my offset spatula in the sides worked perfectly. Thanks for all the support and ideas!
