I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with my multi-color soap. I can't get the two colors to adhere together. Here's what I do: I use olive oil base & mica color. I put the colored base into the design of the mold using a syringe and let it set for a few hours. Then I heat & pour the base with fragrance into the mold to fill the mold up. I let it set over night. With the batch I made this last time I used the olive oil/color with goats milk, olive oil and glycerine bases. On about half the olive oil/color peels off of the rest of the bar, like I had a sticker that I put on the bar. In a few the colored part stayed in the mold. It didn't seem to matter what I base I use.

Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong??

Thanks

Are you spritzing with alcohol betwwen pours? You need to do this to make sure the layers adhere. Have a look at Soap Queen TV on layering (and other thing soapy). They are available on utubeand were my lifesaver. Sorry just going to work so no time for more but I'm sure better brains than mine will have helped by then. Oh and don't put it in the fridge or freezer. Cheers and good luck tho I'm sure you won't need it

definitely you need to be spraying with rubbing alcohol to ensure the layers adhere but it's also my understanding that a few hours is much to long to let the first layer sit before pouring the second layer

Sounds like you are waiting too long between pours.

Thank you every one!! :D

No I haven't sprayed between pourings, only after the final so that there are no bubbles.

How long should I wait between pourings? I started at 30 mins and then added 30 mins until I got to a place where when I poured the next color or base it didn't make the first color melt & blend together. Two hours seemed to work.

As you can tell I haven't been doing this for long, I'm still learning.

I think what is more important than how long you wait is how warm your 2nd pour is. I would wait for a thick skin to form and make sure your 2nd pour is no more than 115 or so. And definitely spray the 1st layer with rubbing alcohol before you pour the 2nd. Soap Queen TV has some amazing tutorials for us beginner soapers. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/user/soapqueentv ... oyh1Bf3Gxo

Good luck!

You're waiting too long between layers. You have to only wait until a thick layers forms and is still warm. Then you spray that layer with 70% Alcohol(it has to be 70%) otherwise it doesn't work. Then put the next layer at 115 F it has to be not hot,but work fast and don't let that soap turn hard. I hope this helps you.

I just made some hearts w/roses on the tops....I syringe my rose colors in and let harden....sometimes I put some clear on that (makes me think I sealed the color) lol.....then I spray with alcohol and pour the rest at the coolest temp I can....works out well for me.... :D
