Hi. Just curious what everyone does with leftovers?

I have already scented and pink colored peppermint scraps, what can I do with them? They seem kind of seasonal.

What do you do with left over soaps that don't sell? I believe I read somewhere that soaps only have a one year shelf life.

Any tips? :?

Shred them and stir them into a new batch.

Can soap be frozen to extend shelf life?

Dawn, I have a latex mould with 12 small hearts which I pour any leftovers into. These make lovely guest soaps, and can be sold in muslin or those other little bags I forget the name of!

I've got an ornamental bath with some in, I'll take a pic and post it. :)

You could melt them down and do the hearts thing - then add them in as a freebie with an order, or if you do markets, use them as giveaway samples or scent samples?

We use ours as shower soap or you could leave them in your undie drawer as scenters. There'll never be a shortage of people who'd happily take on your leftovers!!!

I've decided with the pepperint pink colored leftovers to make a Pink Pampermint Soap. The heart mold would be perfect for Valentines so maybe I can still get a sell on them. I have heart molds on the way.

What I'm looking to do next is to add in a Pampermint Sea or Sugar Scrub and make a gift package. I'm just looking for a recipe for a scrub as I am typing right now. Does anyone have a good one?
:P
Thanks!

Hmmmm... well if they're scraps from other batches, then the original batch file should be sufficient I'd think. If it were specially made to give as gifts, then you'd need a batch file for that I would say. Technically, if you give as gifts, I think you still need to record it.

If you made it out of lots of bits, it would be fairly difficult to label and record - I mean, how would you know what % of the FO is left in the scraps so how would you know to list the allergens or not?

What is PIF mean? Are you talking about FDA requirements to label ingrediants for our soap?

Thanks.

It's a requirement for EU soap producers to keep a full file on all their products including batch records, method of production, batch numbers of raw materials, allergen information regarding FOs and EOs used, full MSDS info for everything used... the history of your life, the colour of your undies on the last Sunday in March in 1977... you get the idea
