Teach Soap

Hi All,
I would like to make a coffee soap with sugar and coffee grounds in it for exfoliation. Can I just add these ingrediants or do I need to add a perservative? Also, can I just use regular old granulated sugar and any kind of coffee grounds? BTW, Starbucks gives out free coffee grounds after they have been brewed. Any opinions?

From what I have observed, sugar will make the MP sticky and the coffee grounds will stain a washcloth. If you want an exfoliating bar, I would go with cornmeal or walnut shells or another exfoliant that doesn't readily dissolve in water.

Good point about the coffee grounds.

I'm thinking of just doing a layer of sugar on top of the loaf soap and not mixing it in. That will help keep it from getting sticky.

Hmmm...I did see a coffee soap with grounds in it on a site. Maybe I'll contact them and see if they've experienced staining.

The sugar and goats milk soap base became very sticky and thick really fast ! Still worked out okay but had to work fast and I had to re-melt the base.
